Slurp Noodle Restaurant

My Role: Lead Photographer

I independently led a photography project for Slurp Noodle, a local Chinese restaurant in Toronto. The primary focus of this project was to capture high-quality images of their dishes to be used across various platforms.

Client Communication

Before the shoot, I communicated closely with the client to understand their vision and the specific effects they wanted to achieve. We discussed the incorporation of Chinese cultural elements to authentically represent the restaurant’s identity.

Props and Setup

I sourced and procured various props, including chopsticks, bamboo mats, ceramic dishes, and unique Chinese spices like Sichuan peppercorns. These elements were used to enhance the visual appeal and authenticity of the food photography.

Photography

During the shoot, I meticulously arranged the dishes and props to create visually compelling compositions. Each shot aimed to highlight the textures, colors, and presentation of the food, capturing the essence of Chinese cuisine. The props added cultural context and made the dishes look more inviting.

Post-Production

In the post-editing phase, I ensured the photos were vibrant and appealing, making sure the colors were accurate and the details sharp. The editing process emphasized the textures and freshness of the ingredients, enhancing the overall visual quality.

Outcome

The final photos were used for the restaurant's menu, Google Maps, social media, and delivery platforms like Uber Eats. By updating the images on these platforms, the restaurant saw a significant increase in takeout orders. The client was very satisfied with the results, noting the positive impact on their business.
